  • Lot Essay : Images of deities in this standardized posture are prevalent throughout Nepal (compare with lot 346). However, in this present example, Vajrpani is represented in place of Avalokiteshvara. What makes this piece unusual is that in place of the standard round base found on many other examples, this figure rests on a rectangular base with a dedication inscription.
