Crowned Buddha from the 16th / 17th centuries This depiction shows the Buddha dressed in a simple monk’s robe, sitting in a meditation posture and carrying out the earth touch gesture (Bhumisparshamudra) with his right hand. The gesture, as well as the crowned representation, indicate that it is a transcendent Buddha, probably Akshobya, the “unshakable”. Akshobya helps to turn hate blindness into wisdom.
