This idealized statue shows a princess from the blossoming period of the three Malla kingdoms (15th – 18th centuries) in Nepal. A 17th-century portrait sculpture of Malla Queen Riddhilakshmi from the Kingdom of Kathmandu may have served as a model. The portrait sculpture is in the Vishnuit sanctuary of Changu Narayana). The princess wears an amulet box around her neck, as was customary for the Malla women of her time.
