Visnu

Visnu

Visnu is represented rigid and immovable, the great stabilizer and preserver of the world’s equilibrium. The jewelled crown (kirita) is a direct descendant of the Gupta period type associated with Uttar Pradesh. Traces of four arms, now missing, are visible, which would have displayed Visnu’s attributes, the disc (cakra), the mace (gada), the conch (sankha) and the lotus (padma).
