A RARE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AMOGHAPASHA
This figure depicts Amoghapasha, Lord of the Unerring Noose, one of the popular interpretations in the Kathmandu Valley of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Compare a copper figure of Amoghapasha sold in our New York rooms, 17th March 2015, lot 1048; and a larger example with stone inlays, attributed to the early Malla period, included in the exhibition Buddha-2000 Years of Buddhist Art. 232 Masterpieces, Völklinger Hütte, Völklingen, 2016, pl. 135.
The hair neatly drawn up in an intricate jatamakuta topped with a foliate finial, standing with eight arms holding various attributes, adorned with elaborate beaded jewellery.
