Guhyasamaja and Sparsavajra

Guhyasamaja and Sparsavajra

This brass figure represents a special six-armed form of the transcendent Buddha Akshobhya, Guhyasamaja in a mystical union (Yab-Yum) with his female partner (prajna) Sparsavajra. In Tantric Buddhism, such images of sexual union are metaphorical for the state of absolute unity, which can be equated with complete enlightenment.
