Ragamala Album: Gauri Ragini

Ragamala Album: Gauri Ragini

Ragamala paintings were mounted in albums in large sets with up to six or seven ragasand their accompanying raginis. Poets applied vivid imagery to these musical modes, writing brief poems to accompany a particular melody. Each painting is therefore a combination of three forms of artistic expression—music, poetry and the visual arts.
